BS Physics Program
The BS Physics program at Chapman University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in physics, preparing them for a wide range of career opportunities.
Learning Outcomes
The program has established the following learning outcomes:
- Students will recall and use mathematics to precisely formulate and solve physical problems.
- Students will recall and use core principles of classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, thermal physics, and statistical mechanics to model and analyze a variety of physical phenomena.
- Students will use both laboratory and computational skills to take measurements, numerically simulate physical models, and analyze data to draw valid conclusions.
- Students will effectively communicate scientific results to both technical and general audiences.
- Students will demonstrate that they can think critically and work both independently and in collaborative teams.

Annual Learning Outcomes Assessment Report
The faculty of the BS Physics program measure student attainment of program learning outcomes goals on an annual basis. The assessment processes used by this program are outlined in the Learning Outcomes Assessment Process document.
Program Review
The program review represents Chapman's commitment to excellence in academic programs through periodic review of educational effectiveness. Every 5 to 7 years, program faculty members prepare a self-study report, which is reviewed by external, expert reviewers, numerous Chapman faculty governance councils and committees, and the Office of the Provost. The results of program review guide institutional planning, budgeting, and decision-making.
