Program Overview
Pathways to Social Work (BSW) at Laurier
Throughout the Social Work (BSW) degree, students will take courses in topics such as social policy, human behaviour, Indigenous perspectives on family and reconciliation, and critical issues in individual, group and family social work contexts, in addition to extensive practical field experience.

Transfer Requirements
Students applying from another post-secondary institution should review transfer-specific requirements, which will provide admission requirements for their unique transfer situation and details about transferring to Laurier.
Teaching Option
Students who gain admission to one of these pathways and wish to complete the Teaching Option must take extra courses, which may lengthen the time needed to complete the Social Work (BSW) program.
Social Service Worker Pathway
- Students who have successfully completed a Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma from a public Ontario college may be eligible for admission into the Social Work (BSW) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via a 2+2 agreement.
- Required final average from this diploma program: 78%+
- Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) and proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 10.0
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.0

Child and Youth Care Pathway
- Students who have successfully completed a Child and Youth Care (CYC) advanced diploma from a public Ontario college may be eligible for admission into the Social Work (BSW) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via a block transfer agreement.
- Required final average from this diploma program: 78%+
- Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) and proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 9.5
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.5
