Game Design and Development (BA) Program
The Game Design and Development (BA) program at Wilfrid Laurier University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in game design and development. Throughout the program, students will learn to communicate by creating playful and immersive experiences such as video games, board games, and escape rooms.
Pathways to Game Design and Development (BA)
There are several pathways to the Game Design and Development (BA) program at Laurier, including:
- Game-Design Advanced Diploma (Mohawk College): Students who have successfully completed Mohawk College's Game-Design advanced diploma may be eligible for admission into the Game Design and Development (BA) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via a 3+2 agreement.
- Required final average from this diploma program: 75%+
- Other admission requirements: 70%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) and proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 10.0
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 10.0
- 2 or 3 Year College Diplomas: Students who have successfully completed a 2 or 3 year college diploma at an Ontario college may be eligible for admission into the Game Design and Development (BA) program at Laurier's Brantford campus via a block transfer agreement.
- Required final average from an approved program: 75%+
- Other admission requirements: 60%+ in a 4U English (or equivalent) and proof of graduation
- Number of transfer credits granted: 6.0 (2-year diploma) or 7.5 (3-year diploma)
- Number of Laurier credits required to graduate: 12.5 to 14.0
Anticipated Transfer Credits
Students who are successful with the Game-Design Advanced Diploma (Mohawk College) pathway will receive the following transfer credits:
- DD102 - Critical Game Design I
- DD151 - Visual Design for Games
- DD153 - Playful Programming
- DD271 - The Business of Game Development
- DD300 - Ethics in Game Design
- UX 100 - Design Thinking I: Foundations
- 1.5 credits: Game Design (100 level)
- 1.0 credits: Interdisciplinary (100 level)
- 4.5 credits: Interdisciplinary (200 level)
Enhance or Diversify Your Degree
As a transfer student, you can add an option or minor in various fields to your honours BA degree to broaden and enhance your academic studies.
