Program Overview

Kumamoto University Summer Program 2014

Kumamoto University has planned the "Kumamoto University Summer Program 2014" to provide students from affiliated universities with the opportunity to experience the goodness of Japan and Kumamoto through a short-term stay in Japan.

Period

The program will be held from July 28, 2014 (Monday) to August 9, 2014 (Saturday) for 13 days. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion from the President of Kumamoto University.

Capacity

The program has a capacity of 40 students.

Program Content

The program includes:

• Japanese language classes
• Japanese culture classes
• Japanese cultural experiences (such as kimono dressing and Japanese sweets making)
• Field trips Please note that the program is subject to change.

Eligibility and Conditions

To be eligible for the program, students must:

• Be enrolled in a university that has an exchange agreement with Kumamoto University and be recommended by their university.
• Have a Japanese language proficiency level of N4 (or equivalent) or higher.
• Be able to purchase overseas travel insurance in their home country. For participants from countries that require a visa, please note that you will need to return to your home country directly from Fukuoka Airport on the day of the program completion (August 9).

Participation Fee

The participation fee is 80,000 yen. Please note that additional costs, such as food and transportation expenses to and from Kumamoto, are not included in the participation fee. There is no scholarship available for this program.

Application Method

The application deadline is May 2, 2014 (Friday). Please submit the application form and recommendation letter to the International Affairs Division, Kumamoto University, by email (PDF) or FAX. The original documents should be sent by post separately.
