Enrolment Information
All students are required to meet compulsory participation requirements to pass the unit. Online students must attend a 2-day on-campus residential.
Unit Description
This unit introduces students to a specific cognitive-informed modality. Students will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of key modality-specific principles and processes and to develop a capacity to apply a range of counselling skills related to the modality being taught, with knowledge and skills demonstrated within the classroom setting and through a range of assessment tasks.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
- Apply theoretical and clinical understanding to a specific contemporary modality
- Apply a range of introductory, modality-specific counselling skills, according to professional codes of conduct and ethical principles
- Demonstrate and appropriately apply a range of foundational counselling skills within counselling sessions
- Constructively critique and reflect on the process of counselling, including their own professional practice
