The Unit of Study ISYS1004 focuses on contemporary issues in information technology, considering social, ethical, and legal factors associated with the human impact, ethics, regulation, privacy, law, equity, access, and cultural and indigenous issues that influence and affect the information and communication technology industries.
Unit Description
Creating and using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) applications requires consideration of social, ethical, and legal factors. This unit delves into issues associated with human impact, ethics, regulation, privacy, law, equity, access, and cultural and indigenous issues which influence and affect the Information and Communication Technology industries. Examples are discussed to illustrate these concepts.

- Ethics/Cyberethics and critical thinking
- Ethical aspects of digital divide, equity, access, indigenous culture, and cyberculture
- Professional ethics in ICT
- ICT in all aspects of life
- Issues caused by ICT
- Regulation of inappropriate content within ICT
