Unit Description
This unit exposes students to legislative and other requirements, project management tools, budgeting, civil works including road network infrastructure design, and applies these elements in field exercises.

- Forest operations planning and goals of operations management
- Using project planning tools
- Managing time, money, and people in forest management
- Building forest roads, bridges, and controlling runoff
- Operations relating to provision of forest recreational and conservation services

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate skills in project management in forests including stakeholder identification and consultation; preparation of project plans including milestones and work schedules; preparation of budgets and expenditure review; contingency plans
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and skills in business management principles; legislative compliance and contracts as these relate to forest operations
- Be familiar with forest operations and relevant challenges specific to provision of recreational and conservation services
