Program Overview
Master of Science in Teaching Geography
The Master of Science in Teaching Geography is a one-year program with 60 ECTS credits. The program is designed to provide in-depth education to subject teachers of Geography in primary and secondary education.
Program Structure
The program structure consists of 2 compulsory courses and 10 elective courses, out of which students choose 4. The compulsory courses are:
- Application of didactic principles in Geography teaching
- Field work 5
The elective courses are divided into two blocks, with students choosing 4 courses from the available options.
Admission Conditions
Conditions for enrolment in the study programme include:
- Completed bachelor academic studies (Bachelor with Honours in Geography Teaching) or other appropriate Bachelor Academic Studies (240 ECTS)
- Appropriate place on the ranking list within the approved students' enrolment quota
Students who completed bachelor academic studies in unrelated disciplines must take an exam in the entrance module, which comprises 11 courses.
Program Goals
The goal of the study programme is to educate Geography subject teachers who are able to stand up to the challenges of modern Geography teaching. The program provides education in Geography, which is in line with the most up-to-date scientific achievements in modern Geography and suitable knowledge of cognitive sciences and training.

By completing this study programme, students acquire general competencies, including:
- Analysis, synthesis, and forecasting the consequences

- Solving concrete problems by applying scientific models and procedures
- Communication and interaction with pupils, parents, colleagues, management, and school expert services, as well as with the local community

Curriculum
The curriculum contains courses distributed according to semesters, active teaching load, and ECTS credits. The program includes a total of 630 active teaching hours, with 42 hours of active teaching per study year.

ECTS Credits
The program has a total of 60 ECTS credits, with 24 ECTS credits for elective courses and 25 ECTS credits for the master graduation thesis.
