The Doctor of Science in Environmental Sciences is a three-year doctoral program, consisting of 180 ECTS credits. The program comprises six elective courses, each worth 15 ECTS credits.
Program Structure
The curriculum for the first year of study includes four elective courses, while the second year of study features two elective courses. Students have the option to choose one elective course from related doctoral study programs offered by the Department of Biology and Ecology.
Research Requirements
The program includes two mandatory research papers, Seminar 1 and Seminar 2, which are worth a total of 60 ECTS credits. Students are required to publish at least one scientific paper in a journal listed on the SCI list and one scientific paper in a national journal of category M50 or a journal on the SCI list, related to the topic of their doctoral dissertation. The published papers must contain results obtained from the doctoral dissertation research, and the student must be the first author.
Dissertation Requirements
The doctoral dissertation must meet the requirement of publishing scientific papers in reputable journals. The dissertation topic and research areas are expected to align with the program's focus on environmental sciences.
Credit System
The program is based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), with a total of 180 ECTS credits required for completion. The elective courses and research papers are allocated ECTS credits as follows:
