Study Programs

Cognitive Graphics in Medicine (22.EAI057)

Basic Information:

  • Category: Professional-Applied
  • Narrow Scientific Field: Applied Computer Science and Informatics
  • ESPB: 6

Course Description:

The course introduces students to medical imaging and advanced algorithms and processes of computer graphics for effective presentation to medical practitioners. It identifies algorithms for image processing based on machine learning and algorithms for implementing artificial intelligence systems in medicine.

Learning Outcomes:

Students acquire knowledge and skills for accepting and processing medical data (primarily visual) and apply them independently in realizing software solutions based on machine learning. They are able to identify, select, and use artificial intelligence algorithms for generating graphic displays of high usability in many medical specialties.

Course Content:

  • Characteristics, creation, and storage of medical images of different modalities
  • Algorithms for medical image processing for efficient application in machine learning systems
  • Algorithms for volumetric modeling
  • Ensuring interactivity with the displayed medical object, labeling, and measurement
  • Practical examples of graphic visualization of vascular systems, virtual endoscopy, cognitive displays, computer-supported surgery, medical simulation

Teaching Methods:

Active teaching through interactive lectures and practical exercises with independent work at home on practical problems. Students are required to complete a project.
