Applied Technology Program
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Technology program at the University of Southern Mississippi is designed to develop business, management, leadership, and human resource development skills in combination with technology. The program is based on the Talent Development Capability Model from the Association for Talent Development (ATD).
Program Description
The program is available online and is designed for community college students completing a technical or occupational degree or certificate program, working professionals who wish to complete their Bachelor's degree, and active or retired service members with a technical or occupational certificate, a 2-year degree, or military credit.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, students must have a technical or occupational certificate, a 2-year degree, or some technical college credits, professional development credits, or work experience. Community college students can transfer up to 75 credit hours, including 45 technical hours and additional general education or elective hours.
Program Pathway
The program pathway includes the following options:
- Community College students can transfer up to 75 credit hours and complete their Bachelor's degree online.
- Working professionals can complete their Bachelor's degree online and prepare for leadership and management roles.
- Active or retired service members can apply up to 45 hours of military credit toward their Bachelor's degree.
Transfer Scholarships
Community College students who transfer to the University of Southern Mississippi are eligible for transfer scholarships, including:
- A $4,000 annual scholarship, renewable for up to 2 years, for students with a transfer cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and 48-89 transfer cumulative hours.
- The scholarship automatically renews if the student maintains a 2.5 USM cumulative GPA and 15 USM credit hours each fall and spring semester.
Program Requirements
The program requires 45 hours of technical credits, which can be transferred from a community college or military experience. Students can also substitute up to 15 missing credit hours with NOCTI exam credit, SHRM-CP certification credit, or ATD certification credit.
