Honors Program

Psychology students at Kennesaw State University can participate in honors in one of two tracks: University Honors Program & Honors in the Major.

GPA Requirement for Honors

The Department of Psychological Science requires a minimum 3.75 GPA to be an Honors student in the psychology major.

Honor's Contract

To pursue an Honor's Contract in a psychology class, students should:

  • Check the suitability of the course for an Honor's Contract
  • Consider the faculty's current workload
  • Work with the faculty to determine specific requirements and timeline

Honor's Capstone Courses

The Department of Psychological Science strongly recommends that students take HON 4497 first to work on the proposal of their capstone project, followed by HON 4499. It is advised not to take these two courses within the same semester.

Finding a Faculty Supervisor for Honor's Capstone

Students should:

  • Identify a faculty member whose research interest aligns with their proposed project
  • Contact the faculty member directly to inquire about supervision
  • If necessary, contact one of the Honors Liaisons for recommendations

Honors Liaisons

Honors Liaisons include Dr. Meghan Bankhead and Dr. Nicole Martin. They can provide guidance on finding a faculty supervisor and serve as the second reader on the capstone thesis.

Submitting the Capstone Thesis

Students must send their paper for a second reading to their Honors Liaison at least a week before the thesis is due to ensure sufficient time for feedback.
