Environmental Engineering Program
The Environmental Engineering program at Kennesaw State University is a diverse field of Civil Engineering that covers both traditional water/waste-water treatment and emerging issues of public health. Environmental engineers are trained to solve problems related to sanitation, clean water, and public health.
Program Description
The program provides a comprehensive education with special emphasis on the demands of water pollution, air pollution, water and waste-water treatment, solid and hazardous waste management and treatment, and other emerging environmental issues. The curriculum is tailored to develop professionals who are able to move between the technical and managerial aspects of environmental engineering projects and to serve in key leadership positions within the engineering profession.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the program are prepared for careers devoted to finding solutions to environmental problems. They are qualified to work for consultants, federal, state, and local governments, and can pursue professional opportunities as an environmental design engineer, permitting engineer, compliance engineer, environmental specialist, water and waste-water engineer, environmental scientist, and more.

Recommended Courses
- Students should take MATH 1190 or higher.
- Students should take MATH 2202 or higher.
- Students should take two four-hour laboratory sciences in the Natural Sciences, such as PHYS 2211/2211L and PHYS 2212/2212L.
