Program Overview


Introduction to the Yoga & Pilates School: Pilates Training 420h Program

The University of Thessaly's Center for Training and Lifelong Learning welcomes participants to its new educational program, "Yoga & Pilates School: Pilates Training 420h" (6th cycle). This comprehensive program aims to provide thorough training in the Pilates method, covering theoretical and practical aspects at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.


Program Objectives

The program's objectives include:


  • Gradual introduction to the Pilates method, using:
    • Body weight (Pilates Mat)
    • Small portable equipment (Pilates Props)
    • Specialized machinery (Pilates Equipment)
    • Suspension straps (Suspension Pilates)
    • Aerial equipment (Aerial Pilates)
  • Designing and implementing Pilates programs for effective organization and delivery of classes at individual and group levels.
  • Applying the Pilates method to different age groups (children, teenagers, adults, seniors) at both theoretical and practical levels, analyzing the characteristics and peculiarities of each group.
  • Training in the Pilates method for mental and spiritual health, including techniques for breathing, relaxation, mindfulness, attention awareness, self-concentration, and positive psychology, separately for children and adults.

Program Details

  • Duration: 9 months (420 hours), 41 ECTS
  • The program utilizes a hybrid method, combining:
    • Distance learning through synchronous and asynchronous lectures via computer.
    • Optional in-person classes (2 days/week), to be held in Trikala or Athens, depending on participant locations.

Accreditation and Recognition

  • The program is recognized for:
    • Appointments of educational staff (permanent and temporary) with two (2) units (Law 4589/2019, articles 55, 57, 58).
    • Scoring for adult educators in announcements by INEDIVIM (e.g., Government Gazette 3393/. /).
