Program Overview


Introduction to the Master's Program

The Master's Program (MSc) in Advanced Design, Technology & Management of Wooden Products is offered by the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design at the School of Technology of the University of Thessaly. This program has three specializations: a) Product Design, b) Technology and Construction, and c) Management & Marketing.


Program Description

The MSc was re-established in accordance with No. 8620/20//8.5.2020 decision of the Senate of the University of Thessaly (Government Gazette 1975/22.5.2020, t'B), and has been operating successfully since the academic year 2015-2016. It is the only postgraduate program that operates in Greek Higher Education and specializes in the subjects of conducting applied research on advanced and integrated methods of strategic management, design, production, quality control, and effective disposal of innovative wood and furniture products.


Mission of the Program

The mission of the program is the training of specialized and competent executives of businesses and services, entrepreneurs, and researchers, so that they can dynamically respond to the modern demanding professional and business environment. In addition, it promotes the knowledge of postgraduate students in the specific subjects of the MSc and prepares PhD candidates.


Program Structure

  • The program has three specializations: Product Design, Technology and Construction, and Management & Marketing.
  • The courses are designed to address business owners and executives, young scientific graduates of related departments.
  • Classes are held on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings to facilitate students who may live a long distance from the Department headquarters.

Admission Criteria

  • The program is open to graduates of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design, and related specialty graduates from Universities in Greece or abroad.
  • Graduates of Polytechnic Schools, graduates of Positive Sciences, Economics, Management, Marketing, and others with a relative relevance to the subject of the program are also eligible.
  • Equivalence of degrees from foreign universities is required for international graduates.

  • The program focuses on advanced and integrated methods of strategic management, design, production, quality control, and effective disposal of innovative wood and furniture products.
