Introduction to the Postgraduate Program
The Department of Medicine at the University of Thessaly invites interested parties to submit their application for the Postgraduate Program (PMS) titled "Surgery of the Lower Abdomen, Lesser Pelvis, and Perineum" for the academic year. This program leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma (DMS).
Program Description
The Postgraduate Program "Surgery of the Lower Abdomen, Lesser Pelvis, and Perineum" aims to provide high-level specialized knowledge, clinical experience, and research activity in the field of surgery of the lower abdomen, lesser pelvis, and perineum. The program's purpose is to provide up-to-date knowledge and personal clinical experience at a diagnostic and therapeutic level across the entire spectrum of diseases of the lower abdomen, lesser pelvis, and perineum.
Program Objectives
The main objectives of the PMS "Surgery of the Lower Abdomen, Lesser Pelvis, and Perineum" are:
- To train and specialize new doctors in a broad, multidisciplinary field of modern surgery
- To provide thorough education to new scientific personnel
- To provide the necessary tools and research prerequisites that will lead to the production of new knowledge from the activities of the trainees
- To create specialized personnel with the required clinical skills for a successful career in the private, public, and academic sectors
- To prepare students for postgraduate studies at the doctoral level
Program Duration and Fees
The duration of the PMS is three (3) academic semesters. The tuition fees for the PMS amount to **500 ** per semester (totaling **1,500 **). The maximum number of admitted students is thirty-five (35).
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the PMS "Surgery of the Lower Abdomen, Lesser Pelvis, and Perineum", applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a degree from Departments of Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biology) from a Greek or foreign university
- Hold a degree from other related departments of universities and TEI (Technological Educational Institutes) with at least two years of relevant professional experience
- Provide all necessary documents, including:
- Application form
- Detailed CV with information on studies, research, and professional experience
- Copy of diploma or certificate of expected graduation
- Copy of analytical grades
- Certified copy of police ID or passport
- Two letters of recommendation from university professors or renowned personalities
- Proof of foreign language proficiency (especially English)
- Recent passport photo
- Copy of both sides of police ID
- Declaration of authenticity of documents
Program Structure
The program's courses are scheduled to take place mainly on Saturdays to accommodate working students, with the possibility of distance learning for theoretical courses, up to 35% according to legal provisions.
