Program Details

Output Window

The Output Window in SPSS stores the results from running an analysis. It consists of a menu bar, a toolbar with shortcut icons, and a status bar. The main body of the Output Window has two panes: the left pane with an outline of the output and the right pane with the actual output.

Left Pane

The left pane contains the output index table. By selecting an index, the right pane moves to the corresponding result content. The index has several layers:

  • The highest layer is the "Output".
  • The next layer is the statistical procedure layer, which includes procedures like "Crosstabs" and "Frequencies".
  • Inside the procedure layer are result layers, such as Frequency Tables and Pie Charts.

Right Pane

The right pane contains the result of the analysis or request for graphs. Users can scroll through the results or use the left pane index table to locate a specific part.

Editing Output

To edit the output, simply double-click on the specific output that needs editing. A pivot table appears, allowing for edits to be made inside the text table.

Printing and Saving

To print or save the output, go to the FILE Menu and choose "print" or "save". Only non-hidden items will be printed, but all output will be saved. Before printing, users can choose "Page Setup" to set up the printing format or request a print preview.
