Program Overview
Cybersecurity Track - EIT Digital Master School
The University of Rennes has opened a Master's programme in Cybersecurity for the EIT Digital Master School: A high-level Master's Degree in a class-leading European hub in cybersecurity.
What is Cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity is the security in computer systems, and as such its domain encompasses not only almost all the devices in our personal environment: computers, smartphones, tablets, smart cards, key fobs, but also infrastructures such as power grids, water supply systems, etc. Therefore cybersecurity extends far beyond the Internet.
Skills Taught in the Cybersecurity Course
The modules taught in the course deal with the following main topics:
- Network architecture and administration
- Cryptographic architectures and protocols
- Methodology for the design of secure architectures
- Cyberattacks and cyberdefense
- Cybersecurity for the Internet of things
- Software engineering techniques for cybersecurity
Upon completion of the two years of the Master's Degree in cybersecurity, students will be able to design, code, validate and manage new secure architectures or assess and correct existing architectures to protect them from cyberthreats.
A Team of Experienced and Well-Recognised Instructors
A system is only as secure as its weakest part. This implies that all facets of the systems must be taken into account: hardware, software and network, together with human stakeholders: users, system architects, lawyers, etc.
The University of Rennes has experts in all the domains that regard cybersecurity, and also has strong partnerships with relevant institutions at Brittany's regional level.
A Training Programme for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The EIT cybersecurity course includes a programme that ideally prepares students to spot opportunities for new high-tech products and successfully bring them to the market. A course on the fundamentals of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Business Development Labs and a Summer School programme are vital parts of this module.
Tracks
The Cybersecurity Master's programme is proposed in two different tracks:
- EIT Digital Master School: A joint initiative by leading universities in Europe. Students from this programme will spend their two study years in two different European universities. They will receive a double Master's Degree as well as an EIT Digital certificate, documenting the specific EIT Digital learning outcomes.
- University of Rennes: The Cybersecurity programme of the University of Rennes is a two-year programme located in Rennes, France. Students will follow exactly the same set of courses as students from the EIT Digital Master School, except that they will spend their two study years in Rennes. They will receive a Master's Degree in Cloud Computing and Services from the University of Rennes.
Application
The courses are offered within the framework of the EIT Digital Master School Cyber Security programme. Students can choose to follow the programme through the EIT Digital Master School or the University of Rennes.
