Master of Sciences of Water (SE)

The Master of Sciences of Water (SE) is a master's program offered by the University of Rennes, with expertise from the OSUR - Observatoire des sciences de l'Univers de Rennes. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of water sciences, including the management of contaminants, environmental impacts, and water resources.

Publics

The master's program is open to students with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in ecology, geology, geography, and environment, without prerequisites. The program also accepts students with a professional background in environment (GEMEAU, water quality, processes, etc.). Additionally, students with a degree in physics or chemistry can be accepted based on their motivation for environmental issues.

Competences Developed

The program is structured around six professional competencies:

  • Manage contaminants in ecosystems
  • Manage environmental impacts on health
  • Manage water courses in ecosystems
  • Manage reservoirs and resources
  • Manage watersheds and water and soil resources
  • Analyze and model element transfers

Students will also develop transversal skills, including:

  • Diagnose the state and functioning of a hydro-system
  • Diagnose the state and functioning of a hydro-system and/or a polluted site
  • Diagnose the characteristics and properties of a reservoir

Pedagogical and Partnership Environment

The Master of Sciences of Water is a partnership between the University of Rennes and several institutions, including the OSUR, Eau du Bassin Rennais, and the BRGM. The program involves a network of professionals and provides students with opportunities for internships and projects.

Partners

The program has partnerships with various organizations, including:

  • Bureaux d'étude (Géoarmor, Innovadia, LogHydro, Terrena, etc.)
  • Organismes (BRGM, ADEME, Agences de l'Eau)
  • Entreprises (Véolia, Total, SNCF)
  • Collectivités territoriales (Régions, conseils Généraux, communes, syndicats mixtes, parcs, instituts, etc.)

Professionnalization

The program provides students with opportunities for professionnalization, including internships, projects, and a network of professionals.
