Program Overview

Introduction to the Program

The École Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Rennes (ESIR) offers a specialized program in Technologies de l'Information pour la Santé (TIS), which aims to train engineers with a broad spectrum of skills in the field of digital health. This program focuses on improving the quality of care and promoting the autonomy of individuals.

Objectives

The TIS program seeks to form multidisciplinary engineers capable of integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) into the health sector. The program emphasizes strong competencies in signal and image processing, modeling, and communicant systems, as well as mastery of the regulatory and specific aspects of this innovative sector.

Curriculum

The curriculum includes scientific, technical, and specific courses, as well as general education in humanities. The program covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Sciences de l'ingénieur: mathematics, physics, modeling, optimization, signal and image processing, statistics, and artificial intelligence.
  • Conception et développement: computer science, embedded systems, electronics and instrumentation, and networks.
  • Sciences de la vie: biology, physiology, and anatomy in relation to pathologies.
  • Environnement médical: regulations, situations of disability and home maintenance, certification of medical devices, and data security.

Organization of Teaching

The teaching is organized into several semesters, with a focus on both theoretical and practical aspects. The program includes:

  • S5 S6: mathematics, physics, probabilities, computer science, holistic approach to health technologies, biology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • S7 S8: digital imaging, imaging modalities, modeling, system control, networks, biomedical signal processing, programming, biostatistics, and medical device certification.
  • S9: computer-assisted medical gestures, e-health, interoperability, organization of the health system, and institutional and legal frameworks.
  • S10: final year internship.

Double Diplomas

The ESIR offers its students the possibility of preparing a master's degree in addition to the engineering diploma.

Professional Integration

The TIS program trains professionals who occupy positions such as:

  • Research and Development Engineer
  • Application Engineer
  • Project Manager
  • Hospital Biomedical Engineer
  • Quality and Regulatory Affairs Engineer
  • Creator/Manager of an innovative company
  • Researcher or teacher-researcher (after a doctorate)

International Mobility

The program includes a mandatory international mobility experience, which can be a study semester or an internship abroad.

Admission

Admission to the TIS program is possible through various channels, including:

  • Post-Bac: Geipi Polytech competition
  • Bac+1: Application on file
  • Bac+2: e3a-polytech and Polytech A Bio competitions
  • Bac+2, 3, 4: Application on file
  • Bac+2, 3: Apprenticeship application for SNR

Research and Innovation

The program benefits from a strong involvement of industrial and health professionals, as well as research institutions. The training environment is conducive to discovering the medical environment and experimentation, with surrounding platforms and technical platforms that allow students to work on numerous projects developed during the training.

Conclusion

The TIS program at ESIR offers a comprehensive education in the field of digital health, with a strong focus on multidisciplinary skills, international mobility, and professional integration. The program is designed to train engineers who can integrate ICT into the health sector, improving the quality of care and promoting individual autonomy.
