Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is offered to students at campuses throughout the state of Oklahoma. All BSN nursing courses are upper division and applicants must complete the 60 academic credit hours of prerequisite course work before enrollment in the first year of the nursing program.


Program Details

The nursing curriculum consists of 60 semester hours of sequenced courses incorporating theoretical (in class and online) and clinical content. Graduates of the program receive a BSN degree and are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination- RN (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a registered nurse.


Program Format and Delivery

  • The Traditional BSN pathway admits students once a year in the Fall and offers only full-time enrollment.
  • The program takes 2 years to complete.
  • The program starts in the Fall for all site locations.
  • The average median salary for graduates is $93,600 per year.

Curriculum

  • The program format and/or delivery is 2 years, in-person modality.
  • Didactic vs. clinical/lab time: 60 hours of nursing coursework.
  • Degree/credit requirements: 120 total hours for the BSN, which includes:
    • 60 hours of prerequisites.
    • 60 hours of nursing courses.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of 60 hours of prerequisite coursework.
  • 30 prerequisite hours must be completed prior to application.
  • All prerequisites must be completed with a grade of 'C' or better.
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
  • Minimum science grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
  • At least three of the four required sciences must be completed prior to application.
  • The four required sciences are:
    • Chemistry.
    • Microbiology.
    • Human Anatomy.
    • Human Physiology.
  • Each attempt of any of the four required science courses taken will be calculated into the science GPA.

Application Process

  • Complete the NursingCAS application.
  • Complete the OUHSC Supplemental application.
  • Submit all transcripts to NursingCAS.
  • Submit transcripts to Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences.

International Student Eligibility

International students are only eligible to apply for the ABSN and TBSN pathways as they have in-person requirements. The LPN-BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, Post-Graduate Certificates, PhD, and DNP programs are not available to international students due to F-1 visa regulations requiring in-person courses.
