The Oklahoma Breastfeeding Resource Center programs are supported by a Title V Block Grant from the Maternal and Child Health Services of the OSDH. These programs are jointly provided with the Oklahoma Nurses Association.
Course Descriptions
- The 3-Hr Provider BF Education course is designed to help train and review all healthcare providers in skills necessary to implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
- The 15-Hr Staff BF Education course is designed to help train all healthcare staff in skills necessary to implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
Course Details
- The 3-Hr Provider BF Education course:
- Costs $30 per person
- Offers a 50% discount for Becoming Baby-Friendly in Oklahoma Hospitals
- Is self-paced
- Comprises 6 modules, each taking approximately 30 minutes to complete
- Must be completed within 90 days of starting
- The 15-Hr Staff BF Education course:
- Costs $90 per person
- Offers a 50% discount for Becoming Baby-Friendly in Oklahoma Hospitals
- Is self-paced
- Comprises 15 modules, each taking approximately 45-60 minutes to complete
- Must be completed within 120 days of starting
Target Audience
- The courses are appropriate for:
- Hospital and clinic physicians
- Healthcare professionals in community settings, such as doulas, midwives, and peer counselors
Training Standards
- Both courses were developed in accordance with the standards of education as established by "Step 2" (Train all healthcare staff in the skills necessary to implement the healthcare infant feeding policy) as outlined by Baby-Friendly USA.
