Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences Admissions
The Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (GPiBS) is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biomedical research.
Admissions Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the GPiBS program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant major
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of coursework

- The Application via the online application portal
- All undergraduate and graduate transcripts
- A personal statement
- Curriculum Vitae (C.V.)
- Contact information for 3 letters of recommendation
- WES or ECE transcript evaluation (for international applicants only)
- TOEFL or IELTS test score (for applicable international applicants only)
Application Deadline
The GPiBS application will open on August 1, 2025. The application priority deadline is December 1, 2025. Applications and all materials must be received by December 1st to be guaranteed review. The application deadline is January 31, 2026.
Timeline and Dates for Interviews and Offers
Interviews are scheduled every Friday from January 10th to February 28th, 2026. Interview offers will begin in early-mid December, and all decisions will be made by April 15th, 2026.

The Application
The application must be completed online via the application portal.
Transcripts
Applicants must submit transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended.
Personal Statement
The personal statement should include the applicant's reasoning for pursuing a PhD in biomedical research, the rationale for applying to GPiBS, research experiences, and career goals.
Curriculum Vitae (C.V.)
The C.V. should highlight the applicant's academic credentials, research experiences, and career goals.
Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must provide contact information for three letters of recommendation.
Research Experience
Research experience is highly recommended, and at least one letter of recommendation should be from a research mentor.
WES and ECE
International applicants must have their transcripts evaluated by WES or ECE.
TOEFL
International applicants must report TOEFL or IELTS scores, unless they have received a degree from a US institution or meet certain criteria.
Description of a Strong Applicant
A strong applicant has a good GPA, a degree in the hard sciences, and multiple research experiences in the biomedical sciences. They also have a strong understanding of research rationale, experimentation, and findings.
