Program Overview

Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences

The Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (GPiBS) is a comprehensive program that offers students the opportunity to participate in rotations, which are an essential component of the program.

Program Structure

There are approximately 150 graduate faculty members on the GPiBS mentor list, with around 90 faculty members available to accept students at any given time. Students can participate in up to 6 different rotations: 3 in the Fall and 3 in the Spring. These rotations are six weeks in duration.

Rotation Schedule

The rotation schedule is as follows:

  • FALL LAB ROTATION DATES
    • 1st Rotation: August 11 - September 19, 2025
    • 2nd Rotation: September 22 - October 31, 2025
    • 3rd Rotation: November 3 - December 19, 2025
  • SPRING LAB ROTATION DATES
    • 4th Rotation: January 12 - February 20, 2026
    • 5th Rotation: February 23 - April 10, 2026 (if needed)
    • 6th Rotation: April 13 - May 22, 2026 (if needed)

Program Requirements

Students must choose a mentor and a graduate program by the end of the Spring semester. The first 4 rotations must be in unique laboratories unless a signed matriculation form is received (only after rotation 3).

Participating Programs

The GPiBS program includes the following participating programs:

  • Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
  • Cell Biology
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Neuroscience
  • Pathology
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Physiology

Important Dates

Students can refer to the GPiBS Calendar for rotation start and end dates, holidays, and other important dates.
