Program Overview
Introduction to the Digital Economy Master's Program
The Digital Economy master's program is a two-year, full-time program that provides students with an excellent academic and practice-oriented education, preparing them for a digital career. This interdisciplinary program touches on various aspects of life and is the focus of many different academic disciplines.
Structure and Content
The program is divided into two years, with the first year focusing on building a common body of knowledge in digital economy aspects. The second year allows students to specialize in one of the offered electives.
First Year
In the first two semesters, students learn the foundations of digital economy from several perspectives, covering:
- Strategic Aspects
- Design Aspects
- Implementation Aspects
- Legal Aspects They also gain hands-on experience in the Business Project course, where they are trained in front-to-end project management.
1st Semester (28 ECTS-credits)
- Digital Markets and Strategies (8 ECTS)
- IT Governance, Risk and Control (4 ECTS)
- Marketing and Innovation (4 ECTS)
- Business Process Management (4 ECTS)
- Value-based System Engineering (4 ECTS)
- System Development and Operations (4 ECTS)
2nd Semester (32 ECTS-credits)
- Transformative Management (4 ECTS)
- Distributed Systems (4 ECTS)
- Security and Privacy (4 ECTS)
- Data Management and Analytics (4 ECTS)
- IT Law (4 ECTS)
- Business Project (12 ECTS)
Second Year
Building on the solid foundation from the first year, students have the opportunity to specialize by choosing one of the electives:
- Information Systems
- Digital Law and Economics
- Digital Strategy, Marketing, and Transformation Students also start preparing and writing their master's theses. Additionally, they can choose between a more business-oriented Industry Lab or a more research-focused Research Lab.
3rd and 4th Semester (60 ECTS-credits)
- Industry Lab or Research Lab (12 ECTS)
- Pick a total of 24 ECTS by choosing elective courses from one of the following specializations:
- Information Systems
- Digital Law and Economics
- Digital Strategy, Marketing, and Transformation
- Master's Thesis Seminar (4 ECTS)
- Master's Thesis (20 ECTS)
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the master's program, students need to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. Each academic program has its own application and admission procedure and individual requirements.
