The Dalian Maritime University Continuing Education College plans to launch a training program for ship captains, chief engineers, first mates, and first engineers in March 2026. The program details are as follows:
Program Overview
- The program includes training for ship captains, chief engineers, first mates, and first engineers.
- The training duration for each program is:
- Ship captain: 3.5 months
- Chief engineer: 2.5 months
- First mate: 3.5 months
- First engineer: 3.5 months
- The tuition fee for each program is 9,000 yuan, which includes training fees and insurance fees, but excludes the examination registration fee for the certificate of competence.
Admission Requirements
- Applicants must have 5 years of relevant sea service experience, grade, and position that meet the requirements of the "Regulations on the Examination and Certification of Seafarers of the People's Republic of China" and its implementation rules.
- Applicants must meet the standards for seafarers' physical examinations.
- Each program has a limited number of places, and applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Training Details
- The training will be conducted on-site at the Dalian Maritime University campus.
- The training will include theoretical and practical courses.
- Attendance will be strictly monitored, and students with an attendance rate of less than 90% will not be issued a training certificate and will not be allowed to register for the certificate of competence examination.
Application Materials
- Applicants must provide the following materials:
- Original and scanned copy of the application form for the ship crew position training examination
- Original and scanned copy of the commitment letter for the ship crew position training
- Scanned copy of the front and back of the seafarer's certificate of competence
- Scanned copy of the first page and service record page of the seafarer's service book
- Proof of entry and exit records, including the signed pages of the seafarer's certificate, passport, or query records from the national immigration administration platform
Service Record Maintenance
- Before attending the training, applicants must complete the service record filing on the "Maritime Bureau of the People's Republic of China's One-Stop Service Platform" and upload the relevant service records, seafarer's certificate, passport, and entry and exit records.
- The filed service records must be consistent with the records in the service book.
- Applicants must complete the filing and cancellation of their service records before the application deadline; otherwise, they will not be able to attend the training.
