Program Overview


Introduction to the Double Degree Program

The Double Degree Program (DDP) between Kanazawa University and Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School offers students the opportunity to earn two master's degrees in three years. This program allows students to broaden their knowledge and gain a wider perspective in the fields of environment, energy, and policy.


Specializations

The program offers the following specializations:


  • Material Chemistry (Applied Chemistry Course)
  • Electronic and Information Communication Engineering
  • Earth Society Infrastructure Engineering (Social Infrastructure Engineering Course)

Curriculum

Students will spend two years studying at either Kanazawa University or Tsinghua University as their primary institution, while also attending the other university for research and study. To graduate, students must complete the required credits and submit a master's thesis that meets the requirements of both universities. The thesis must be on a different topic for each university, although it may include complementary or related aspects.


Degrees

Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded two master's degrees:


  • Master of Engineering (Kanazawa University)
  • Master of Engineering (Tsinghua University)

Admission

The program has a limited enrollment of 20 students (10 from each university). To apply, students must submit applications to both Kanazawa University's DDP program and Tsinghua University's DDP program.


Application Procedure

For Kanazawa University as the Primary Institution

Students will study at Kanazawa University for two years and spend at least 10 months at Tsinghua University for research and study.


  • Apply to Kanazawa University's Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Environmental and Energy Technology International Course (ETIC)
  • Apply to Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School, Resource and Environmental Science Program (DDP)

For Tsinghua University as the Primary Institution

Students will study at Tsinghua University for two years and spend time at Kanazawa University for research and study.


  • Apply to Tsinghua University's Shenzhen International Graduate School, Resource and Environmental Science Program (DDP)
  • Apply to Kanazawa University's DDP-Tsinghua Program

For Tsinghua University as the Primary Institution

  • DDP-Tsinghua Program students may apply for the Study at KU financial support system, which provides up to 180,000 yen per year or 90,000 yen per semester.
