Introduction to the CAS HSG in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education
The CAS HSG in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is a two-level, evidence-based, and practice-oriented certificate program designed for individuals who wish to develop their teaching skills in higher education. The program is offered by the University of St.Gallen and is tailored to meet the diverse needs of its participants.
Program Structure
The program consists of two levels: the basic level and the advanced level. The basic level provides a solid foundation for developing teaching skills, while the advanced level focuses on the development of teaching skills and innovation in teaching and learning.
- The basic level is the first level of the CAS, which acquiring a solid foundation for developing teaching skills.
- The advanced level is the second level of the CAS, which focuses on the development of teaching skills and innovation in teaching and learning.

- Assistants
- Lecturers at universities (FH, PH, UH) who are teaching or will be teaching in the foreseeable future
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Basic level: People with professional experience and a university degree at Master's level
- Advanced level: Persons with a university degree at Master's level and basic level (or equivalent) and initial teaching experience
Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for the program include:
- A letter of motivation explaining the applicant's motivation for applying to the continuing education program
- A brief curriculum vitae
- A copy of the applicant's highest educational qualification
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees for the program are as follows:
- Basic level: CHF 3'500.00
- Advanced level: CHF 5'700.00
Program Details
The program details are as follows:
- The basic level takes place in the autumn semester
- The advanced level can be started immediately after the basic level in the spring semester
- The program language is English, but individual assignments can be completed in English and German
- There may be some German options in the elective courses
