Course Overview
The course "Digitale Forensik für Jurist:innen" (Digital Forensics for Lawyers) is designed to introduce lawyers to the essential topics of digital forensics and provide them with the necessary competencies in handling electronic evidence in civil, criminal, and administrative proceedings.
Target Audience
The course is aimed at lawyers, employees of legal services, public prosecutors, judges, court clerks, auditors, and other individuals working in the legal profession with a basic legal education. Prior knowledge of digital forensics or computer science is not required.
Course Structure
The course consists of a preparatory online webinar on Friday, June 5, 2026 (from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm) and a full-day course on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Weiterbildungszentrum Holzweid in St. Gallen.
Course Content
The course will cover the basics of digital forensics, including:
- Hash values
- Metadata in electronic evidence
- The probative value of screenshots
- How to correctly reference electronic evidence in court records
Registration
