Program Overview

The program in question is the " " or "Foreign Language in the Sphere of Professional Communication." This program is designed to enhance language and speech skills, increase proficiency in a foreign language to the B2+ level according to the international CEFR scale, and develop communicative and linguistic competencies.


Program Goals and Objectives

The primary goal of this elective course is to perfect language and speech skills, and to increase the level of proficiency in a foreign language. The objectives of the course include the sequential mastery by students of a set of competencies and the step-by-step passage to the advanced B2+ level. The main competencies that should be mastered in the study of this discipline include:


  • Communicative competence, including linguistic, sociolinguistic, sociocultural, social, discursive, and strategic competencies.
  • Pragmatic competence, or the ability to understand and generate foreign language discourse, taking into account culturally conditioned differences.
  • General competence, which includes knowledge about the country and the world, as well as the ability to expand and improve one's own worldview and navigate media sources of information.
  • Cognitive competence, or the ability to plan goals, course, and results of educational and research activities.
  • Intercultural competence, or the ability to achieve mutual understanding in intercultural contacts.
  • Compensatory competence, or the ability to avoid misunderstandings and overcome communication barriers.
  • Professional competence, or the ability to conduct business and official communication in a professional environment both in the country and abroad.

Expected Outcomes

Upon completion of this discipline, graduates should possess the ability to conduct business communication in both oral and written forms in the state language of the Russian Federation and in a foreign language. Specifically, they should have the competency -4, which enables them to engage in business communication in oral and written forms on the state language of the Russian Federation and foreign languages.
