Introduction to the Science Honours Program

The Science Honours program is designed to provide students with a competitive advantage for employment or to serve as a first step in a research or academic career. This program offers students with a Bachelor's degree the opportunity to delve into a specific aspect of science in depth, gain experience and training in research techniques and principles, develop written and oral communication skills, and work collaboratively on projects with industry and government partners.

Program Structure

The major component of the Bachelor of Science Honours course is a two-semester (full-time) research project. This research project can be undertaken in a wide range of fields, including:

  • Biology
  • Ecology
  • Spatial science
  • Analytical chemistry and molecular modelling
  • Exercise and sports science
  • Medical laboratory science
  • Pharmacy
  • Information systems
  • Mobile networking
  • Software development

The other components of the course are coursework units designed to develop specific research skills, including the communication of research results. The course can be completed full-time or part-time and is available off-campus in external mode, depending on the availability of projects and supervisors.

Research Areas and Supervision

Projects may be offered by staff in the following schools or institutes:

  • Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods
