Overview
The VTP512 Welding course is designed for individuals who have not used a welder before. It covers various topics, including personal and work-related safety, basic understanding of the manual metal welding process, setting up the welding machine, preparation of the steel to be welded, learning to weld at various angles and positions, and identifying various weld faults and their cause.

Course Structure
To achieve the vocational training program VTP512 Welding, a total of three (3) units of competency must be completed as listed below.

Admission Criteria
A Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy (LLND) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may need additional support to help you achieve your goals. An LLND assessment will be conducted prior to, or soon after, enrolment to determine whether students have any LLND support requirements which must be addressed. There are no additional entry requirements.
Required Resources
Students are issued with learning resources for this course and are closely supervised during practical activities. Other resources include:
- Provision of adequate drinking water and regular reminders to rehydrate.
- PPE including welding helmet, welding gloves, apron, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Students are requested to wear steel-capped boots, thick long-sleeved shirts, and thick long trousers.
Accreditation
This is a non-award training program, and a Statement of Attainment will be issued for nationally recognised units of competency successfully completed.

Fee Exemptions
