Bachelor of Environmental Science

Overview

What Will I Study?

The course includes common and core foundation units completed mainly in the first year, providing a grounding in biology, ecology, earth systems, statistics, and study design. Students can then select one or two majors in Biodiversity and Conservation, Water and Landscapes, Spatial and Quantitative Ecology, or Eco-cultural Resource Management.


Course Structure

  • Core Units: 9 units totaling 90 credit points
  • Specialist Electives: 12 units totaling 120 credit points, including the completion of at least one major
  • Electives: 3 units totaling 30 credit points

Study Plan

Entry Requirements

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:


  • Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60
  • Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher
  • Successful completion of at least 0.5 years of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma
  • Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications
  • Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 140
  • Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognized tertiary preparation courses
  • Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience
  • Australian Defence Force (ADF) members with service of 1 year or more at specific ranks

English Language Requirements

  • DOMESTIC STUDENTS: Must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Must meet the minimum English language requirement for the course, which can be met by undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or by completing an approved English language test
