Program Overview
Program Description
The course proposes an agile and updated exegesis of various passages and themes from the Johannine works, highlighting existential contexts, literary structures and genres, stylistic peculiarities, and fundamental theological perspectives. The commentary on the Fourth Gospel will focus on the definitive salvific revelation of the Son of God made "flesh," emerging from his singularly filial relationship with God and his salvific relationships with people who open up to him with "affectus fidei" (disciples, Mary, Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the blind man, Lazarus, Martha...). By analyzing multiple pericopes and questions from the Johannine letters and the Apocalypse, the course will deepen how the Risen Lord continued to manifest himself with "signs" of revelation in the persecuted Christian communities of Asia Minor at the end of the 1st century.
Objectives
Through an essential presentation of pericopes and themes from the Gospel of John, the three Johannine letters, and the Apocalypse of John, the course aims to facilitate the student's progressive entry into their historical-cultural, literary, and theological horizon.
Teaching Methods
The course will be taught in person, with frontal lessons followed by an adequate time for student questions. To facilitate learning, the teacher will provide a dispensation.
Examination Methods
In the oral exam, the candidate will summarize 30 pages of F. Manzi's "Amicizia di Ges¨ e risurrezione" or "Il Cavaliere, l'Amata e Satana." The teacher's subsequent question will be on a lesson from the course.
