Program Description
The Seminario di Logica - B is a seminar that introduces students to the philosophical debate on the foundations and metaphysics of logic. The seminar covers four main topics:
- Quantification, existence, and ontological commitment
- Predication, universals, and particulars
- Modal logic and the metaphysics of possible worlds
- Identity predicates, synchronic and diacronic identity
For each topic, the seminar provides a general introduction that reconstructs the history of the debate in Western philosophy, along with a selection of classic and contemporary texts. The seminar includes a disputatio, a debate with objections and responses to the examined theories.
