Program Overview

Program Description

The Seminario di Logica - B is a seminar that introduces students to the philosophical debate on the foundations and metaphysics of logic. The seminar covers four main topics:

  • Quantification, existence, and ontological commitment
  • Predication, universals, and particulars
  • Modal logic and the metaphysics of possible worlds
  • Identity predicates, synchronic and diacronic identity

For each topic, the seminar provides a general introduction that reconstructs the history of the debate in Western philosophy, along with a selection of classic and contemporary texts. The seminar includes a disputatio, a debate with objections and responses to the examined theories.
