Program Description

The program in question is "Letteratura italiana contemporanea A" (Contemporary Italian Literature A), which is part of the academic offerings at the Università della Svizzera italiana.

Course Objectives

The objectives of this course are to:

  • Explore significant stages of Italian prose from unification to the last decades of the 20th century.
  • Reflect on the variety of linguistic and stylistic solutions adopted by the examined writers, with particular attention to the concepts of expressionistic deformation and realistic mimesis.
  • Address important theoretical concepts, such as "field of tension."
  • Refine the analytical and interpretative technique of narrative texts.

Teaching Methodology

The course is taught in person, with frontal lessons that include constant possibilities for intervention and discussion by students. Attendance is mandatory.

Examination Method

The examination is oral, lasting 20 minutes. Each student is required to read at least one work for each of the three periods considered, accompanied by a critical essay.
