Sustainable Tourism Experience Design

Profile

The course offers a point of synthesis for learners when it comes to exploring the many relationships between Sustainability and Tourism, encompassing all involved dimensions – economic, social, environmental and cultural sustainability.


Description

Approaching the issue from a design perspective, the course offers the opportunity to integrate and harmonize elements from all other courses in a single project.


Objectives

Through this course, learners will:


  • Know about
    • design and design thinking
    • sustainable tourism, with a focus on cultural sustainability
  • Know how to
    • design a sustainable tourist experience
    • evaluate a tourist experience from the viewpoint of sustainability
  • Be able to
    • Approach sustainable tourism with a design approach

Learning Methods

Most of the course will run in a "airplane mode", challenging learners to fully focus on the goal through exercise, simulations, visits, games and group-work.


Examination Information

The assessment will consist of


  • participation in all class activities (10%)
  • a collaborative project (40%)
  • an individual paper (50%) in which each learner will elaborate their contribution to the project
