Program Overview


Advanced Topics in Visual Computing

Description

The course will be designed as a reading group seminar to explore the latest research and methodologies driving visual computing forward. Each participant will read and present one or two recent research papers and participate in discussions. The papers will be preselected from the fields of computer vision, computer graphics, computational photography, and generative AI. They will focus on cutting-edge approaches leveraging neural representations and artificial intelligence, from advanced deep learning architectures to innovative applications in computer graphics. The seminar will offer a stimulating dive for those interested in topics related to the image and video generation process.
The course will be open to both PhD and MSc students who have background in one of the following fields: machine learning, computer vision, computer graphics, image and video processing.


Objectives

The course will introduce students to state-of-the-art techniques that tackle problems related to the image and video generation process.

Examination Information

  • PhD students: are expected to present 1-2 papers. Their grades will be based on the attendance, discussion, and the presentation. They will obtain 2 ECTS.
  • MSc students: are expected to present 1 paper, and write a short exam at the end of the semester evaluating the knowledge gained during the seminar. They will obtain 3 ECTS.
