Program Overview
Program Overview
The Writing Business Plans course is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to learn how to develop and evaluate business plans. The course is built on the knowledge already acquired by students of the Master in Management and simulates an entrepreneurial experience.
Description
The course covers various aspects of business planning, including market analysis and marketing planning, market forecast, competitive analysis, product system design, and competitive advantage creation and defense. Students will also learn about firm structure design, organization design, make, buy, and connect decisions, competitive-advantage-based alliances, and financial simulation.
Objectives
The primary objective of this course is to enable students to develop and evaluate business plans. Students will work in groups to develop business plans for two different start-ups: one for a manufacturing company and the other in a services company.
Teaching Mode
The course is taught in presence, using a learning-by-doing approach. Students will work in groups on the two business plans and will evaluate their peers' business plans. Time pressure is part of the teaching approach, as well as the ability to organize group activities. Tutorial classes will help groups focus their efforts and deal with methodological issues.
Examination Information
The grade is based on three components: Teaser (15%), video PITCH (20%), and the business plan (65%) prepared during the course. All assignments are team-based.
