Program Overview

Introduction to the Program

The Creación y Producción Escénica program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú is the result of over two decades of experience in training creators and producers in the field of performing arts. This multidisciplinary academic program provides students with knowledge in dance, theater, music, performance art, and other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

Program Description

The program aims to form professionals who are complete in their field, integrating various tools that enable them to develop their creative and management capacities in the creation, production, and research of performing arts events. The curriculum combines artistic skills, production techniques, and fundamental academic knowledge, allowing students to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the processes necessary for carrying out performing arts projects.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Creación y Producción Escénica program are prepared to work in a variety of fields, including:

  • Centers for culture and education
  • Community cultural organizations
  • Self-managed cultural organizations
  • Event production companies
  • Performing arts collectives
  • Public entities for cooperation and development
  • Research projects related to performing arts or interdisciplinary studies
  • Consulting for performing arts productions

Artistic-Academic Spaces

The program offers a wide range of artistic-academic spaces that are open to both the university community and external individuals interested in performing arts. These spaces provide students with the opportunity to participate actively in different roles, such as direction, production, and research.

Research Performances

Interdisciplinary research performances aim to generate new knowledge through the exploration of various languages, allowing for experimentation with the possibilities of scenic creation. These professional projects, directed by a faculty member, involve the participation of students in different areas.

Festivals

The program organizes two festivals:

  • The Encounter with Performing Arts presents creation projects by all students of the Faculty of Performing Arts.
  • The Festival Saliendo de la Caja, co-organized with the PUCP Cultural Center, showcases the final works of Faculty students.

Social Responsibility

Each year, a performing arts project is undertaken to generate a positive impact on society, such as the Soy Libertad project, which works with prisoners through a theater project.

International Seminar on Performing Arts

This seminar aims to create a space for dialogue and academic reflection on the different aspects of performing arts, featuring conferences, workshops, and artistic presentations by national and international guests.

Program Structure

The program includes:

  • A multidisciplinary curriculum
  • Elective credits that can be taken within or outside the Faculty
  • Opportunities for student exchange programs abroad
  • Participation in artistic-academic spaces and research projects
