Program Overview

Program Overview

The Program Integral de Capacitación de la Escuela de Emprendimiento is an initiative developed by the Municipalidad de San Miguel, in conjunction with the Departamento Académico de Ciencias Contables (DACC) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). This program is part of the institutional strategy Barrio PUCP, focusing on Responsabilidad Social Universitaria (RSU).

Program Objectives

The primary objective of this program is to strengthen the entrepreneurial competencies of district entrepreneurs through comprehensive and applied training. The goal is to generate greater sustainability in the administration of small businesses, addressing the high rates of entrepreneurial activity and mortality in the country, largely due to the lack of entrepreneurial training.

Program Content

The program covers contents related to the strategic functional areas of small businesses, determined based on the needs of the district's entrepreneurs. These needs are identified through continuous meetings between the Gerencia de Desarrollo Económico y Social y Cooperación Interinstitucional (GDECI) and the entrepreneurs, ensuring the program is tailored to address the specific challenges faced by the participants.

Participation and Allies

The program involves strategic allies, including the GDECI, the Dirección Académica de Responsabilidad Social (DARS), and the community of graduates from the former Facultad de Administración y Contabilidad, who bring their entrepreneurial experience and managerial expertise. Additionally, Open PUCP, administered by the CIDE, provides the classrooms where the classes are held.

Participant Profile

The program's second promotion included participants from the San Miguel district, with a majority being women (87%). The activities developed during the classes generated significant learning experiences through the active and dynamic participation of the attendees, who valued the practical application of the topics designed by the teachers.

Outcome and Impact

The successful completion of the second promotion's studies reflects the synergy of the value created by the alliance between the university and the local government as a driver of the district's economic development. It also highlights the commitment of the DACC to social responsibility, knowledge transfer, and generating a transformative impact benefiting the community. The initiative has received recognition from the Dirección Académica de Responsabilidad Social, the Vicerrectorado de Investigación, and the Municipalidad de San Miguel.
