Program Overview


Program Overview

The Canto Popular program, led by instructor Joselin Barrantes, is designed to help students improve their vocal technique and musical perception. The program aims to enable students to interpret popular songs, applying correct breathing techniques and stage management guidelines.

About the Workshop

In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to better understand their body and voice, increase their musical perception, and interpret a popular song, which will be recorded on video. Additionally, singing offers benefits for the physical and emotional health of participants.


Target Audience

The program is open to young people and adults aged 13 and above who wish to develop knowledge and skills in popular singing at a basic or intermediate level. No prior singing experience is required.


About the Instructor

Joselin Barrantes is a graduate of the Universidad de Folklore José María Arguedas, specializing in Singing. She was the winner of the contest "La Voz" season 20 (2017).


Program Format

The workshop will be held in person at the PUCP campus (Av. Universitaria 1801, San Miguel).


Schedule

There are two schedule options:


  • Schedule C: Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Schedule D: Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Duration

The program will run for 12 weeks, with a total of 18 hours of instruction. The start and end dates are:


  • Schedule C: April 18 to July 4
  • Schedule D: January 18 to July 4

Participation Certificate

Participants who attend at least 70% of the sessions (6 out of 8 sessions) will be eligible for a digital certificate of participation issued by PUCP.


Tuition Fees

The program fees are as follows:


  • Public in general: S/ 448.00 (20% discount for early payment)
  • PUCP community (students, graduates, and staff): S/ 420.00 (25% discount for early payment)
  • Regular price after April 12: S/ 560.00 (public in general) and S/ 448.00 (PUCP community)

Payment Methods

Payment can be made online with credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, and Amex) or through bank transfers (BBVA, IBK, Scotiabank, and BCP).
