Program Overview


South Dakota Early Childhood Enrichment Ongoing Health and Safety Training

The South Dakota Early Childhood Enrichment Ongoing Health and Safety Training is a program designed to meet ongoing training requirements for staff working in state licensed and registered child care programs.


Level III

The Level III online, on-demand series is intended for experienced educators with at least eight years in registered or licensed child care or school-age programs. This series is designed for staff who have completed the South Dakota Orientation Series within the past 10 years and the SD ECE Ongoing Health and Safety Level II within the past five years.


Program Details

  • The program consists of 12 modules, including Module 12: Pediatric First Aid in Early Childhood and School-Age Settings, which must be taken last.
  • Participants may take the modules in any order, but Module 12 must be completed last to receive the Overall Course Completion Certificate.
  • Each learning module has an interactive video that all participants must watch, indicated with a small, black icon and the letters HP.
  • Closed captioning is available and can be turned on by clicking on the CC in the lower right corner of the screen and then clicking on Subtitles.

Certificate of Completion

  • After completing the quiz with a passing grade, participants will have access to a certificate for each module.
  • After successfully completing all required modules, participants will receive a course completion certificate listing all classes and the date of course completion.
  • For those working with children under 5 years, the course completion certificate of achievement is for 6.5 hours of training.
  • For those in licensed school-age programs, the course completion certificate of achievement is for 5.5 hours of training and will state the completed 10 required modules.

Program Requirements

  • Participants must have completed the South Dakota Orientation Series within the past 10 years.
  • Participants must have completed the SD ECE Ongoing Health and Safety Level II within the past five years.
  • Participants must have at least eight years of experience in registered or licensed child care or school-age programs.
