Masterclass 'Retail Design' (English version)

Customer Experience Design on the Shop Floor

The Masterclass 'Retail Design' is a dynamic crash course that delves into the core elements of Retail Design, backed by scientific insights and a deep understanding of customer experience on the shop floor. This Masterclass offers a perfect blend of theory, practical application, and vivid examples, empowering participants to apply their newfound expertise with confidence.


Target Audience

This Masterclass warmly welcomes both experienced and aspiring (interior) architects and designers, regardless of their prior experience in the retail sector. Additionally, consultants with expertise and experience in the retail industry, even without a design background, are encouraged to join. To facilitate an optimal learning environment, the class size is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.


Lecturer

The Masterclass is led by Prof. dr. Katelijn Quartier, a retail design expert and founder of the Retail Design Lab, a knowledge center at the Faculty of Architecture and Art of Hasselt University.


Programme

The Masterclass consists of 4 online sessions, held on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 4:00 PM CEST. The sessions cover the following topics:


  • Session 1: DNA & Branding: the rules of the retail game
  • Session 2: Flow and Customer journey mapping
  • Session 3: Sensory Design and Experience
  • Session 4: Digitalization, Communication, and Sustainability

Participants will be requested to complete some preparatory work/assignments prior to most sessions, requiring approximately 1 hour of preparation time per session.

The Masterclass 'Retail Design' consists of 4 afternoon sessions, held online on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 4:00 PM CEST. Note that classes will only be held live and will not be recorded.


Registration Fee

The registration fee is 1495 excl. VAT (1808.95 incl. VAT). The fee includes "The Big Book of Retail Design: Everything You Need to Know about Designing a Store" by Quartier, K. (2023) published by Lannoo Campus. SME's in Flanders can use the 'KMO portefeuille' under the theme 'Sustainability'.
