Program Overview


Master of Energy Engineering Technology (MSc)

The Master of Energy Engineering Technology is a joint initiative of the Faculties of Engineering Technology of Hasselt University and KU Leuven University at the Diepenbeek campus in Belgium.


Why Study Master of Energy Engineering Technology

This one-year (60 ECTS) English Master's programme focuses on the sustainable production of energy, the efficiency of energy conversion, the optimization of energy storage, and the intelligent management of various energy systems. The programme offers hands-on training with attention to entrepreneurial and communication skills, integrated project work and lab activities, and a broad package of elective courses.

  • TOEFL iBT: minimum overall score of 79
  • IELTS Academic test: minimum overall score of 6.5
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) (C1)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET): minimum overall score of 120
  • Exemptions apply to holders of diplomas from certain countries or English-taught programmes

Diploma Requirements

  • A solid background in science and mathematics
  • A strong affinity with the field of energy
  • Eligibility for students with a Flemish degree in Energy Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent
  • Eligibility for students with a non-Flemish degree in energy-related disciplines, with demonstrated experience or coursework in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Physics

Annual Tuition Fee

  • Belgian and EEA students: fixed part of €305.40 + variable part per ECTS credit of €14.60 (total fee of €1,181.40 for 60 ECTS credits)
  • Non-EEA students: fixed part of €305.40 + variable part per ECTS credit of €153.10 (total fee of €9,493 for 60 ECTS credits)
