Program Overview


Introduction to the Program

The Bachelor and Master in Mobility Sciences is a unique and interdisciplinary program that focuses on the complex relationship between humans, society, and mobility modes. The program aims to provide students with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the field of mobility, and to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to become experts in mobility sciences.


Program Structure

The Bachelor program consists of 180 study points (3 years) and is divided into two quarters and a semester in the first year, and a semester system with exam periods in January and June in the second and third years. The Master program consists of 120 study points (2 years) and focuses on the influence of mobility choices and the organization of mobility.


Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad and interdisciplinary education in mobility sciences. The program includes five thematic learning lines:


  • The mobiliteitswetenschapper: This learning line focuses on the theoretical foundations of mobility sciences, including research methods and techniques.
  • The mobiliteitsprofessional: This learning line focuses on the application of knowledge and skills in real-life cases, including project management and teamwork.
  • The communicator and teamplayer: This learning line focuses on communication and collaboration skills, including stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
  • The generalist: This learning line focuses on the broader context of mobility, including law, economics, and spatial planning.
  • The specialist: This learning line focuses on specialized topics in mobility sciences, including transportation planning and traffic management.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Bachelor program requires:


  • No specific prior knowledge of mobility themes
  • 4 hours of mathematics per week is recommended, but not required
  • A healthy interest in current events, a scientific attitude, and analytical thinking skills

Admission to the Master program requires:


  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Completion of a bridging program for students with a professional Bachelor's degree

Language

The program is taught in Dutch, but an English-taught Master's program is also available.

The program is located at the Hasselt campus of UHasselt.
