Sino-foreign cooperative education program for undergraduates majoring in industrial engineering
Program Overview
Introduction to the Program
The Yanshan University Industrial Engineering undergraduate program is a collaborative effort between Yanshan University and Curtin University in Australia. This program was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in November 2014.
Program Overview
Yanshan University is a key university in Hebei Province, supported by the provincial government, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. Curtin University, established in 1967, is the largest and most culturally diverse university in Western Australia, with a strong international reputation. The university has nearly 50,000 students, including almost 10,000 international students from over 100 countries.
Program Advantages
Faculty Arrangement
The program shares faculty from both Yanshan University and Curtin University. All professional teachers have professor or master's degrees and international study backgrounds, with their professional and teaching qualifications recognized by both universities. At least 12 core courses (20 for students studying abroad in their fourth year) are taught by foreign teachers.
Training Methods
The program aims to cultivate outward-facing industrial engineering professionals. Chinese teachers focus on developing students' foundational knowledge, professional knowledge, and application abilities, while foreign teachers focus on English language application and the basic qualities of international engineers. The program employs multimedia and "electronic scenario mode" teaching methods, with practical courses incorporating simulation training content. It also strengthens practical teaching and extracurricular production internships and practices.
Teaching Management
The program's teaching follows the recognized teaching methods of both cooperating parties. All courses are face-to-face, with Chinese and foreign teachers teaching together. Chinese teachers use Chinese or bilingual teaching, gradually introducing bilingual or all-English teaching.
Scholarship Settings
Curtin University offers a project-specific scholarship for outbound students, with an amount of approximately 10% of the annual tuition fees paid to the foreign university.
Program Duration and Certificate Awarding
The industrial engineering undergraduate program adopts a "3+1" training model, where students study at Yanshan University for the first three years and at Curtin University for the fourth year. Students who complete the specified teaching plan can receive a graduation certificate and degree certificate from both Yanshan University and Curtin University.
