The Education for Inclusive Environments Teacher Residency Program is designed for individuals passionate about creating classrooms where all students feel a sense of belonging. This unique program provides a dual endorsement in P-12 Special Education and K-8 Elementary Education, preparing future teachers to succeed academically and in real-world classrooms.
Program Overview
The program focuses on valuing and facilitating the full participation and belonging of all students, with an emphasis on understanding and addressing systemic inequities in education. Key features of the program include:
- Focus on Equity & Inclusion: curriculum prepares future teachers to design classrooms that meet the needs of all students, emphasizing culturally responsive teaching practices
- Collaborative Learning Environment: candidates are paired with experienced mentor teachers, university faculty, residency coaches, and peers in a year-long residency to develop their teaching practice
- Asset-Based Emphasis: coursework integrates best practices in differentiating instruction and implementing high-leverage practices with a focus on asset-based classroom design
- Sustainable Impact: a commitment to long-term partnerships with schools and districts to create sustainable improvements in teacher recruitment, retention, and student achievement
Program Highlights

- 7 quarters to completion for initial licensure
- Evening classes with daytime experiences in district classrooms
- Opportunity for a $25,000 paid residency with Everett Public Schools
- Small, cohort model
- Suitable for traditional and non-traditional undergraduates and working paraeducators
