Introduction to the MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering Program
The MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering program is designed for students who hold an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering. The program is also open to applicants with degrees in closely related fields, who may be required to complete prerequisite undergraduate coursework.
Admission Criteria
Admission to the program is selective and based on several factors, including:

Application Requirements
To apply, students must submit:
- Online Graduate School application
- Statement of purpose, including motivation, interests, and goals

- Two letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts International students may have additional requirements. GRE scores are not required.
Teaching Assistantship (TA) Opportunities
Students interested in TA positions should apply by the priority deadline and include a short section in their statement of purpose about:
- Teaching/tutoring or other learner-support experience
- How they help undergraduates succeed
- How they create an inclusive learning environment
Research Assistantships (RAs)
RAs may be available when faculty members have active research grants or sponsored projects that include graduate student support. RA positions are competitive and depend on both funding availability and alignment between a student's interests and a faculty member's research area.
Enrollment Options
The program offers both full-time and part-time enrollment options. To be eligible for TA or RA positions, students must be enrolled full-time and working on campus.
Course Load
Generally, it is recommended that full-time students take 12 credits per quarter, such as three 4-credit classes.
