The Climate Leadership Certificate program is designed to address the urgent issues of climate change and social equity. The program aims to equip leaders with the necessary training and experience to apply their skills to critical work in climate action and justice, economic vitality, environmental protection, community health, and equity.
The Need
In this age of climate change and social reckoning, there is a growing need for skilled leaders who can bring awareness and action to these urgent issues. Washington State has committed to achieving a carbon neutral electricity grid by 2030, becoming 100% clean electric by 2045, and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Communities are planning and implementing climate adaptation and mitigation solutions, and innovative systems thinkers and change agents are needed across all sectors.
Certificate Program Benefits

Program Details
The Climate Leadership Certificate program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become leaders in climate action and justice. The program includes a practicum, place-based orientation experience, and coursework in climate change, sustainability, and leadership. Upon completion of the program, students will be equipped to work in a variety of fields, including climate change mitigation, adaptation, and sustainability.
